Let's Get Baking Camp July 14-17
FOR AGES 8-12
Let's Get Baking Summer camp is hosted at my home in Vestavia! As a former Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, I LOVE teaching kids to bake! We meet Monday-Thursday from 9:00-12:00 each day! What we bake year to year varies but a few goodies we have made in the past are: unicorn bread, fruit pizzas, apple pies, Banana Puddings, Strawberry Cakes with homemade icing and fruit crisp turnovers! The cost for the camp is $225. $40 is due at registration checkout. The remaining balance of $185 will be due closer to your child’s camp date.
Every day of camp, each child will come home with a box filled with their baked goods to share with friends and family! On the first day of camp students are tasked with project to create their own Bakery. They are required to name it, design it, create a theme for it and create it's menu! They have around 25 minutes each day Monday-Wednesday to work with their group or partner to work on their bakery project while the goodies they made are baking and cooling. On Thursday, they present their bakery to the whole class! Each child is recognized for one great thing about their bakery but only one is chosen to be the Grand Champions of the Build Your Bakery competition!
The time they spend working with a partner every day on their food items along with the time they spend working with a group on the Build Your Bakery project goes way beyond teaching baking skills. Your students will also be challenged to learn to work with others in group settings and be challenged to be creative!
